Using Superfoods The Right Way - Smart Ways To Protect Against Cancer

As much research that has occurred with superfoods and their role with cancer, you'd think universal agreement would exist. In reality, you will find that there is very little empirical data that can show the tie between cancer and superfoods. The curious part of this is doctors and researchers will not come right out and say superfoods have no important role to play. Really, what needs to be done is to compare chosen lifestyle habits, and other factors that put people at risk for developing cancer.

Cancer researchers have been studying berries and their effect on cancer using science for decades. The fruits actually have a variety of antioxidants and other nutrients within them. Generally speaking, darker berries are higher in cancer-fighting nutrients and superfoods. The darker the fruit, the better it is. This is also true for vegetables, so it seems consistent across the board in regard to the foods we eat. People that have a lot of stress in their lives can produce oxidative stress, a condition where free radicals take their toll your body by damaging the cells. Black raspberries have been identified as being a powerful reducer of oxidative stress. It comes down to looking at the berries as a group, not just one particular variety. Nuts are not only nutritious in themselves, but they help assimilate other superfoods you may be eating. Even though they don't actually contain phytochemicals, they interact with these in your body, which can help prevent or fight cancer. If you don't normally eat Brazil nuts, for example, these are a highly nutritious type of nut. Selenium, an important trace mineral, is one of the beneficial nutrients found in Brazil nuts. Your body has to carry out a wide assortment of processes every day, and minerals such as selenium help support many of these. Ellagic acid is a substance that helps prevent cancer, and Brazil nuts are a good source of this; they also have lots of protein and healthy fiber.

Are you aware that superfoods also include kiwifruit? It is a powerful food for many reasons. It is actually a berry, and not a fruit, despite the size that it is. Along with the phytonutrients that it comes with, which promotes probiotic growth in your intestines, it is also a great source for prebiotics as well. Since Kiwis have so many vitamins and minerals, it is almost like ingesting a multivitamin on a daily basis. A daily vitamin C will no longer be necessary if you'd simply eating kiwi. Kiwi fruit is also an excellent source of fiber, and this relates to the point about prebiotics. If you want to clean your arteries regularly, this source of soluble fiber will certainly do the trick. And if you want to reduce the possibility of cancer within your colon or stomach, the prebiotics within the fiber can help you do this.

As you can see, superfoods are essential for your health. You should have a list of them, and their benefits, with you at all times. Maintaining your health is always a good idea, and having a smart diet to help you really can't hurt. Although some people equate these foods too bad medicine they remember as a child, they are not that bad, and you should get into the habit of eating them. If you want a high quality of life, especially as you get older, these are foods you need to eat every day.
